Copy pasting the first part of this so lazy girlies don't have the experience the stress of !clinklickers
As the sheen on dating apps dulls, more Americans are reporting bad experiences on them. Frustrated by bots, subscription costs and high effort-to-reward ratios, Gen Z is fleeing the apps in hope of real-life meet-cutes. Earlier this year, “Bustle” declared that dating apps are in their “flop era.”
Not all of the apps are taking this backlash without a fight. On Tuesday, after months of internal shake-ups and stock market woes, Bumble took a shot at winning back hearts and minds with a redesign, which includes a break with the app's requirement that women make the first move.
A new feature, which the company has called “Opening Moves,” allows women to place on their profiles a question, like “What is your dream vacation?,” to which men who match can respond. (In nonbinary and same-gender matches, both sides can include these prompts.)
The shift is a major one for Bumble. Until now, a man who matched with a woman on the app had to wait for her to message him. If she did not initiate a conversation, the match would expire after 24 hours.
Whitney Wolfe Herd founded Bumble in 2014 because of her own personal experiences. She said that the idea was to give women more control. “I had a series of bad relationships, and I felt I was controlled by a man,” she added, “whether it was: Don't wear this or, You can't hang out with this person or, You need to be home at this time.”
But over the years, Bumble received feedback from women who found that making the first move was “a lot of work” or “a burden,” and Ms. Wolfe Herd began thinking about how to release the pressure. Opening Moves, she said, is a result of that process, a way to let women maintain control while not feeling the stress of initiating all of the conversations.
But not copying the whole thing because The Gray Lady be a notoriously litigious b-word.

When schools send a bunch of cops in to fight college students, it immediately makes them look brave and justifies their cause. Everyone roots for the underdog especially when they're actually risking something.
Meanwhile at UCLA they're just letting the protestors do whatever. So they're inevitably making themselves look bad.
Beloved parts of campus are spray-painted with cringe anarchy symbols. Walkways are blocked so students can't get to class. Protestors keep climbing onto building scaffolding which impedes construction for no reason. There's a PSA that no bananas or peanuts are allowed at the encampment because someone has an allergy.
I can feel the vibe slowly beginning to shift against them just because they keep doing stupid college-student type stuff.
They really only win when images of cops arresting them are promulgated through the mainstream, because they invoke the cultural memory of Kent State and student protests of the 60s. Columbia is the most embarassing example because the administration is allowing Elise Stefanik to dictate their response because they're more afraid of protecting their jobs, which is ironic because they'll probably be losing them soon and having a Scarlett letter going forward in left spaces because of how they treated them. The Republicans couldn't be happier that this implosion is happening in an election year, it's just impressive that the Biden administration has been able to side step for this long.
Please COPS! PLEASE BEAT US TO DEATH!
The video of the Columbia students who took over a building requesting humanitarian aid at a press conference was so embarrassing. The video of the horse cops breaking up the UT protest was embarrassing. Ignoring seems to be the only good method.
A picture of themself being arrested is what they need to propel their post Uni activism career.
This sub gets too caught up in optics. The reality is repression is effective. It may strengthen passive activism and sympathy, but those people don't do a thing. They're not a problem. Meanwhile repression actively hinders a sizeable part of the demographics that aren't useless, the ones actively doing something. It's a net positive to dissuade them with violence. This is based on my experience in France, maybe not fully applicable to the US where protests are a lot more performative in nature.
neighbor wat
everyone here probably aligns with the protestors morally and ethically but it's always frustrating to see the left lose the war of optics because we can't help but be cringe.
I'm so checked out, how are they being cringe? All I see is them having occupied the national spotlight and a heightening of political tension
They took over Hamilton Hall (I'm fine with this) and then during a press conference today talked about the need for students occupying the Hall to receive "basic humanitarian aid" unless Columbia wants them to "starve and die of thirst". When told by a reporter that they are simultaneously calling themselves revolutionaries while also asking to be fed by Columbia, she says they aren't asking to be fed but asking "that they don't violently stop us from bringing in basic humanitarian aid". When asked if Columbia is stopping delivery of food, she says they are "looking for a commitment that they won't". Just unbelievably cringe. To top it off stood behind her during this conference is a bearded man wearing a crop top and keffiyeh
Seen another one of students who were asked what the goal was. She said showing support for Palestine and demanding NYU stops. When asked "stops what?" she says "Honestly I'm not so sure" then she asks the girl next to her what they are protesting for NYU to stop and she says "I wish I were more educated on that".
There was a student with a "severe banana allergy" so the encampment was made a banana free zone, but Zionist anti-protestors brought bananas and laughed while eating them from a distance which made the students furious.
For anyone averse to cringe its really hard to cheer these people on
!chuds laugh at the absolute state of !redscarepod

Beautytok is all up in the shit right now and it's actually kind of funny so ima tell you all about it!
A few months ago a new makeup brand called Youthforia caught some flak from black beauty creators because their foundation shade range was basically non-existent for black people, and that's not allowed unless you're a Korean or Japanese brand (for obvious reasons). The owner of the brand (who is asian but is American and Youthforia is an American brand) actually came out and tried to defend their shade range by UNIRONICALLY saying it was a SOCIAL EXPERIMENT and was met with even more criticism because we all aren't fricking BLIND and that's STUPID. AND all of the shades on the box were NOT the shades that you get in the bottle so darker shades were actually even lighter than advertised which only made people more upset.
SO to appease the masses Youthforia expanded their shade range and introduced like 5 new shades for darker skintoned people and now everyone wants to burn down their HQ.
IT'S FRICKING SHOE POLISH BLACK. This shade is a literal asian-on-black hate crime and everyone is soooooper mad because it's LITERALLY black face paint. The shade is being compared to minstrel makeup and now Youthforia is sooper raycist.
Like you know if Time fricking magazine orders a rush job article about your debacle you done fricked up good.
Anyhoo tiktok is all abuzz with their pitchforks and you can pick pretty much any video about it and watch jaqqoffs slaughter each other in the comments with whataboutism and "muh cousin's neighbor is black like a tire and would love this!"
It's great.

For many, many years, I've recorded that my girls outperform the boys by a wide margin. In my case, the measured difference between them is so large that I cannot help but think something is wrong with our boys, particularly after I also account for their general behavior.
If I test 100 children and score work blindly, with names removed, the top 90% will be girls, and it has been so for a couple decades.
Sounds like you teach grade school.
Boys largely struggle to follow simple directions. Working memory is poor. Executive functioning is minimal. They are impulsive to the core, constantly distracted, and unable to perform at grade level. Compared to girls, the boys leave me feeling as if I where working with infants and toddlers. Most students we have in our special education programs and those with IEPs are boys. In every class I've had, most of the boys strike me as being mentally handicapped. Yes, there are outliers. There are always outliers amongst both genders.
lmao These literal children would rather play than listen to me, are they retarded?
I don't know if boys ever catch up,
Considering !fellas outperform !biofoids almost across the board I'd say they do more than catch up
but I do not suspect that to be the case, given the deltas I record every day. I'm familiar with the old anecdotes of boys maturing slower and being a couple years behind the emotional development of girls, but this appears to be something more ominous.
No, boys are just tuff enough that they don't falter the moment you crack the whip.
its called the patriarchy. Boys are not held to the same social standards as girls.
Then why are boys the most likely to be punished?
The patriarchy, which leaves boys behind?
The sentiment is that low achieving boys will achieve higher than high achieving women because of patriarchal standards.
These boys DON'T have to try hard because the system is meant for them to succeed.
Are you literally retarded? They don't try because they don't care. They're children who'd rather be playing amongst themselves.
Except that's not an explanation for what's happening here. Boys aren't doing worse in high school because they "have an understanding" that they will succeed later on. They're just...failing.
They aren't just failing in K-12, either. The success of boys in a continual downtrend at college as well.
It's bizarre to me that someone would look at a kid who is going to drop out of high school and say "Well, the patriarchy!" like it's a point worth making in that context.
It's because teachers are made up solely of unicels who had it pounded into their head that patriarchy
was the great satan that caused all sin in the world.
Teachers are mostly women. Parents who actually parent are mostly women. Males are taught to not respect or listen to women. It's not difficult stuff to grasp.
That doesn't track at all. Somehow the majority of authority in a boys life is female and he's taught not to respect them? No, hr learns not to respect them. Seeing teachers fail basic physical tasks, bow down to empty authority and go on childish power trips teaches him not to respect women.

My manager makes us “weigh in” before starting a shift and then again before a shift meal
I don't really know what to make of this. We've been under a lot of pressure to portion control. My manager is always freaking out when we are low on anything at all and says we aren't hitting our “numbers”.
I swear he's getting paranoid due to the pressure from corporate. There's a lot of concern about employees eating on the job and “skimping off the bins”. He decided to remedy this with a scale. I shit you not.
Before every shift we have to weigh in. Before we have our shift meal he makes us weigh in again. He says if we've gained weight we don't get to have a shift meal because obviously we are skimping? Apparently water doesn't weigh anything.
This feels illegal but he says it's not because it's to prevent theft and that he keeps the numbers private. Has this been implemented at other chipotles? Please help.

A man was joking around one night and asked a group of us each what superpower we would like to have. Lots of people said to fly, shoot bullets from their fingers, one person said to dispense ranch dressing from their navel. I said to be invisable to men. I killed the party mood.

The last few days on Twitter people have been mocking women who think that they'd be safer lost in the woods next to a bear than a random man.
Of course women will jump into these conversations and say "but men bad" and get flamed, then cry about how mean the internet is to the mentally handicapped.
Today, I saw this one, who seemingly proudly announces that she purposefully buzzkills parties.

Elon Musk fires Tesla's entire supercharger team
Electric-car maker's public policy unit also being disbanded as chief announces in memo hundreds more jobs to be cut
Elon Musk has shut down the division that runs Tesla's Supercharger business, dismissed two senior executives and fired hundreds more staff as the electric-car maker continues its restructuring amid a sharp downturn in the EV market.
Musk announced internally on Monday that the head of the superchargers group, Rebecca Tinucci, and Daniel Ho, head of new products, would be leaving along with their entire teams. About 500 people were in the supercharger group, the memo said.
Tesla's supercharger system is among the largest charging networks in the world, and was one the reasons the company enjoyed such a commanding lead over rival carmakers for so long. While the supercharger operations will continue, the move raises questions over the future of the charging business.
The entire public policy unit will also be disbanded following the departure of its leader, Rohan Patel, in the middle of April.
“Hopefully these actions are making it clear that we need to be absolutely hard core about headcount and cost reduction,” Musk wrote in the memo, which was first reported by The Information. “While some execstaff are taking this seriously, most are not yet doing so.”
Any manager “who retains more than three people who don't obviously pass the excellent, necessary and trustworthy test” should resign, he added.
Tesla shares, which fell 5.5 per cent on Tuesday, were down another 2.6 per cent in pre-market trading at $178.53 on Wednesday.
Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.
[article continued]
The latest dismissals at the company come after Musk announced last month that the carmaker would cut “more than 10 per cent” of its total workforce, more than 14,000 jobs, in order to be “lean, innovative and hungry”.
The urgency of the shift was underlined by Tesla reporting a decline of almost 10 per cent in revenues in the first quarter of this year, its first year-on-year quarterly drop since the start of 2020. The share price has more than halved from its November 2021 peak of just under $410 a share.
The decision took staff by surprise. Will Jameson, who worked in the Tesla supercharger team, wrote on X that Musk “has let our entire charging org go”. Another employee of that division, George Bahadue, posted on LinkedIn confirming he had been let go.
He added: “What this means for the charging network, [North American Charging Standard] NACS, and all the exciting work we were doing across the industry, I don't yet know. What a wild ride it has been.”
When Jameson was asked by a reader on X why the entire division had been let go, he replied “your guess is as good as mine”.
Musk said in the memo that superchargers sites under construction would be finished and “some” new locations would be constructed.
The surprise move comes despite Tesla having built the dominant EV charging network with 50,000 sites globally and 15,000 in North America. Recently it has signed contracts with several rivals, including Ford, General Motors and Rivian, to use its NACS charging standard.
Models from other carmakers will be able to use its branded charging stations, potentially bringing Tesla a significant revenue stream, as well as establishing it as the de facto industry standard.
Tinucci, Ho and Patel are not the only long-standing Musk lieutenants to leave this year. Drew Baglino, senior vice-president leading Tesla's engineering and technology development for batteries, motors and energy products, resigned in April and Martin Viecha, its head of investor relations, said he would step down on the company's first-quarter earnings call last week.
In a post on X, Musk said the carmaker would continue to grow its supercharger network “at a slower pace for new locations”.
“More focus on 100 per cent uptime and expansion of existing locations,” he wrote.
