Durov (Telegram) blows another hole in Signal's security.

🤫 A story :marseyslime: shared by Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, uncovered that the current leaders of Signal, an allegedly “secure” messaging :marseytelegram: app, are activists used by the US state :marseycoonass: department for regime change abroad 🥷

🥸 The US government spent $3M to build :marseyyarn: Signal's encryption, and today :marseyclueless: the exact same encryption is implemented in WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google :marseygetgle: Messages and even Skype. It looks almost as if big tech in the US is not allowed to build :marseyikea: its own encryption protocols that would :marseymid: be independent of government interference 🐕‍🦺

🕵️‍♂️ An alarming number of important people I've spoken to remarked that their “private” Signal messages had been exploited against them in US courts or media. But whenever somebody raises doubt :marseybruh2: about their encryption, Signal's typical response is “we are open source :marseymissing2: so anyone can verify that everything is all right”. That, however, is a trick :marseyflareon: 🤡

🕵️‍♂️ Unlike Telegram, Signal doesn't allow researchers to make sure that their GitHub code is the same code that is used in the Signal app run on users' iPhones. Signal refused to add reproducible builds for iOS, closing a GitHub request from the community. And WhatsApp doesn't even publish the code of its apps, so all their talk about “privacy” is an even more obvious :marseyoctopus4: circus :marseycryingclown: trick💤

🛡 Telegram is the only massively popular messaging :marseytelegram: service :marseygreytide: that allows everyone :marseynorm: to make sure that all of its apps indeed use the same open source :marseymissing2: code that is published on Github. For the past ten years, Telegram Secret :marseyglow: Chats have remained the only popular method of communication that is verifiably private 💪

Hi,

Reddit is a vast network of communities that are created, run, and populated by people like you. In order to keep communities welcoming, safe, and great places to be, everyone who uses the platform operates by a shared set of rules—a set of rules you may not have realized you broke.

Warning for encouraging violence

We flagged the following as a potential policy violation:

Content shared from you on 05/12/2024 UTC

After reviewing, we found that you broke Rule 1 because you encouraged or glorified violence or physical harm. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for encouraging violence against people or animals. We don't tolerate any behavior that encourages, glorifies, incites, or calls for violence or physical harm against an individual, groups of people, places, or animals. Any communities or people that encourage or incite violence towards an individual, group, animals, or place will be banned.

As a result, we're issuing this warning, removing the violating content, and asking you not to break this rule again.

Reddit and its communities are only what we make of them together, and we want you to continue enjoying Reddit while helping your fellow redditors and communities stay safe. We suggest reading and getting acquainted with Reddit's Content Policy. A better understanding of these rules will help you avoid further actions from our admin team. If you do continue to break Reddit's rules through this or any other Reddit account, you may face additional actions such as three-day, seven-day, or permanent bans.

If you feel like you didn't break the rules, you can file an appeal any time within the next six months and we'll take a second look.

If you live in the European Union, you can also contact a settlement body to dispute the decision. You may also have the right to have this decision reviewed by a competent court under the applicable laws of your country.

Airpods 2nd gen and Windows 11 volume issues

This is a bit niche but nobody else on the (publicly indexed non-groomercord) internet has asked about it so might as well ask the tards here. I use a pair of 2nd gen airpods (third set I've purchased, they fit my ears better than any of the other ones) and they have some kind of super annoying artificial volume limitation on windows 11. They're about 1/2 as loud as they should be at max win11 system and max application volume vs my iphone. I can get around this with amp software gain boosters but this obviously adds lots of distortion. Has anyone else encountered this or found a solution?
